Greetings from Cindy and Cloud Dome, I just upgraded from the
Coolpix 990 to the Coolpix 4500. I highly recommend the Coolpix 4500
for jewelry and gemstone photography.
In September, I went to the largest camera show in world, Photokina,
in Cologne, Germany. I tested and look at all the major digital
cameras, by far the best was the Nikon 4500. Close runner ups are the
Sony 707, 717 and the Canon G2. The Nikon 4500 focus within an inch of
the object, perfect for jewelry photography.
I negotiated a special price for Orchid Members with Adorama,
, in New York of $530.00 for the Coolpix
4500. You have to call John Green at 1-800-223-2500 ext. 232 and
mention "Cindy from Cloud Dome" to get the discount. (I'm trying to
get Adorama to donate a camera to the Tucson silent auction, so if
you have other camera or photography needs, call John.)
Beware of good deals on the web, they might be "grey market"
cameras. Buy from a local "brick and mortar" camera store or
recommended companies like Adorama (they have a huge store in New
York and great customer service).
