Diamond's value in the nineteenth century

Today in the west we live better than royalty of the middle ages,
a shame so many don't appreciate it.

Salt is one of the few pleasures I can still have, so I do
appreciate it

Anyone ever grown a salt crystal, an interesting experiment to do,
don’t know if you could capture he crystals for a piece of jewellery?

Ok why is the glass in salt cellars blue?
Why not other colours?

Well I don’t really Know, but a WAG would be that that bluish glass
it would mask the yellowish tint that unrefined salt often has and
make it look white, thus giving the appearance of a higher quality
salt than it really was.

One Additional WAG is that the salt container glass was more often
broken because it was handled and used much more often than the
pepper one was.

To save the question from the one person who doesn’t know (or whose
primary language is not English) a WAG is a Wild A$$ed Guess

That as any self respecting chocoholic would tell is due to the
avialbility of chocolate. No seriously (I can be some times) In the
South West It was a coming of age right of passage for a man to make
a journey to a salt deposit and leave a hand print to provehe had
been there. This was Anazasi/Hopi/Pueblo Indians not the Athabascans
(Navajo) that came later. Salt has been a major commodity of worth
for a very long time in many places. Aggie a foster mom of one of the
SW salt lovers!

Why not other colours? Salt cellars come in every shape, size,
color and material.

Look at this one, made by Cellini for the king of France:

It isn;t always blue. I have a clear glass salt cellar that belonged
to my gr grand parents - it is sort of rusty now though which is
another “wondering” all by itself.

I have quite a few salt sellers, silver, blue, red, orange and green.
I guess it just depends on the time period. I inherited mine from
great grandparents.

I learnt from my friend who is an electrician how to use led strips
run off a rechargeable battery to light my gem set jewellery in my
cases. Makes it look great. I just bought the stuff off the shelf
in an electronics store

Ooh! Care to share an’instructable’ on how to make these?
