Damascus steel?

Julia, is it possible that what you saw was a meteorite piece which
had been acid-etched to reveal its crystalline structure (a
Widmanstatten pattern)?

This material has been used in combination with other metals in
finished products so I suppose it is possible it has been used to make
Damascus steel. If so, I’d love to see it!
