Copper clay crumbles

Hello - I’m new to Orchid - but I won’t let that stop me from
putting forth a question - maybe someone has some advice or info. I
have recently begun trying out bronze and copper clays. The bronze
clay was fantastic - worked well without drying out. But the copper
clay was another story. It crumbled and it was stained from the
beginning with a dark stain. I haven’t done any firing of it and
wonder if the stained colour will be there afterwards. Has anyone
else found that the copper clay was recalcitrant?

Thanks for reading.
Barbara

That has not been my experience with copper clay at all, perhaps you
got the rare bad batch.

Hi Elaine and thanks for responding. We have had a very severe
winter this year on the east coast of Canada and I am wondering if
perhaps the clay was frozen in transit. Lets hope for the better when
it’s fired!

Thanks again
Barbara
