Same goes for pouring baking soda into pickle to neutralize. Always
pour acid SLOWLY into the pickle.

Technically, the acid is so hungry that the molecules fight each
other to get at the new liquid. Start with more liquid and add the
acid then they don’t fight (explode) quite so much.

but it just shows that sometimes apprehension is a good thing.

baking soda is a base, not an acid.

I meant to say, “slowly into the baking soda mix” as the acid is the
pickle. Sorry for the confusion.
