Condensed Orchid CD

Hi,

And while on the subject of Lapidary Journal CD’s, I would love to
buy a CD of the tips and tricks of the year that were published on
Orchid. I know one can search the archives but it would be great to
have a focused sort of CD with subjects like soldering, casting,
forging and even (gasp) beading and maybe a special section on the
sage advice of John , Peter, Charles and James and all the other
IT’s (Immense Talents) that reside on this list.I would put bucks
down with a bright smile for that CD. 'twould make a nice Xmas
pressie too.

I second that.

I have been printing out all my emails and that gets to be quite a
paper trail and time consuming.

Hans, interesting that you should mention that. I have collected the
Orchid tips (that I wanted to keep) by subject matter ever since I
began subscribing to Orchid. It’s easy enough to do for yourself. I
simply set up a folder for Jewelry with subfolders of Soldering,
Tumblers, Photography etc… Then when I read a tip that is of
interest to me, especially those with recommendations or either a
piece of equipment or a person, then I simply copy those messages
into the appropriate categories. Then when I need something, I
simply go back to my folders and look down the messages I’ve saved
and can usually find what I want easily and quickly. I have found
this very satisfactory for myself and easy enough to do.
Unfortunately when I first started doing it, I simply copied only the
info I wanted and didn’t copy the entire message, date, person
submitting etc., so I have no way to go back to check with that
particular person should I want more detailed info. But you could
easily set up your own system for doing this and that way you’d keep
only the info you personally wanted.
