Covington makes 8 and 10-inch saws with optional power feed.
Buying a saw “for slabbing”, whether the tool’s called that or not,
without a powerfeed is like buying a car without tires…

Al…We had both the 8" and 10" Lorton saws for sale at our Graves
Store in Tucson this year. We had a manual feed vise for the 8" and
I looked at it specifically to see if it would accommodate such a
weight system. Frankly, while it may be possible, my quick
assessment was that it would not easily do so.
I really love my little 10’ auto-feed saw. A gentleman bought it for
his wife but, unfortunately, she passed away so I got it from him. I
now have a 24, 14 (drop), 12 auto-feed and the 10". I love sawing
rocks…never know whats going to be in there!!!
Cheers, Don in SOFL.
I use an Ameritool flat lap for most of my cabochon work. I much
prefer it for most things to my Highland Park combination wheel
machine.
Highly recommended.

Hi Susi,
I got behind on Orchid due to surgery. I’m just getting caught up,
so this post may be too late for you.
I use Diamond Pacific’s Genie lapidary unit. Diamond Pacific has
others as well, both smaller and larger. I suggest you check them
out:
