Coloring strip off from galvanized finish beads

Was: Your jewelry business threatened by the economy?

I launched a new website last month, but there was a large
problem. The beads I had been weaving with had a flaw and, after a
short time, the plating completely broke down and the pieces I made
(and all the photos) are now useless.

Kimberly - From looking at your items (without the luxury of being
able to handle your beads in person), it looks as if your beads are a
galvanized finish bead. If that is the case, it is not unusual for
the coloring to strip off relatively quickly - it is quite normal for
that type of bead. If you want a more permanent finish you will need
to use actual 22 Karat or 24 Karat plated, or 24 Karat lined beads in
the work. Those cost more, but they actually have a lot more
stability over time. If you want to see the difference, check my
website http://www.beadstorm.com in the seed beads, metallics,
section and look through the beads. Or if you have specific
questions, I’d be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.
