i have used two things to hold a ring when taking a picture.

the wax that you buy at the drug store that you put in your ears
when you go swimming. this wax is clear.

I am and I would like to revise my post about this material. I did a
photograph yesterday of a piece I just completed and I used this
blue tack to hold the necklace in place. The heat from the new blue
light bulbs for photography that I have just purchased actually
melted the blue tack. This caused it to be a little difficult to
remove. I’m thinking that some of the other posters on this subject
had better materials. I apologize if anyone used this stuff on my
advice and didn’t like it.
