One such material is called "strawberry quartz" and is described variously as containing inclusions of hematite or fine needles of reddish rutile.
Hi Pam, Don, and all, I’ve read about strawberry quartz (Lapidary
Journal, I believe) and seen rough material advertised before. From
what I remember, it tends to be quite “pricey” for a member of the
quartz family. While it would be possible to have a strand of
strawberry quartz beads, I suspect it would be prohibitely expensive,
and not available in the volume we’ve heard described at the Tucson
shows.
