I use Hauser Miller and have never had a problem with the weight of
what I take in. I always take small amounts, but I do hand deliver
it. It is likely that they are trying to get away from taking small
amounts and possibly if you are a new customer they would request a
minimum weight. I can’t see any refiner returning your material, as
is, if it did not meet the weight standard though. I suspect these
new standards have come into play because there has been a huge
influx of persons cashing in old and broken jewelry due to the high
cost of metal these days. When they pay you cash for goods, it turns
into inventory at their end, maybe sales are down and these
businesses do not want to increase their stock. Just my musings.
