Can any of you help with this?

Hi all, I got this request from my web page for someone who wants a ring
designed and fabricated or cast, I think this is probably on the edge of my
skill level at this point and don’t want to disappoint this lady. Anyway,
she likes my design style but I’m sure any of you pros could satisfy her
needs here without my involvement or if necessery I could do some sketches
for her and you would produce the work. I don’t really need any money if
that happens, whatever. Anyway, whoever feels they could give this gal what
she’s looking for please contact her direct, thanks…DaveFrom: Stacey Curtis stacey@vni.net

Hi.

I’ve been browsing the web for several hours tonight looking for a suitable
(nontraditional) engagement
ring or engagement ring designer. I liked your stuff.

There’s a lot of crap out there…I kept coming across sites saying things
like, “Our distinctive and
challenging method of “fabrication” meets the F.T.C. guidelines for
hand-crafted jewelry.”

Yeah…

Anyway, I’m not sure how this custom thing is supposed to work…I have
only vague ideas of what I
want - themes, really, not a concrete implementation. In a nutshell, I want
a black and white (no
yellow gold), symmetrical, simple, balanced (not one central stone) design
in a relatively small
mounting. Though I’m not opposed to color in the stones, per se, I’m
envisioning only black and
white/clear, but I could be swayed if the alternative fit into the
simplicity/balance theme.

Since it’s an engagement ring, and thus, will assumably be worn for a long
time, strength of the stones
is important. I’m not sure what black stone, if any, is going to be durable
enough…I understand that
garnet and opal are probably too delicate. Diamond’s OK for the white/clear
part, I guess, but I’d
prefer something with a little more character.

I think silver could be strong enough for this type of ring, but if you
work in platinum, that
might be better.

Is this something you’d be interested in working on? If so, let me know
what other info you need, etc.

Thanks very much.

BLACK Stones… You know we never think of the Sapphire(quality is Blue,
Black … sold as dark blue … and much much cheaper!) is a candidiate for
the ‘Hard Black’ Stone(s)…

Dave,
I can be located at Creative Goldsmiths in Bethesda, Maryland if I can be
of any service to this lady. It’s right across the Potomac River from Falls
Church. We have quite a few clients over there already.
