Can anyone tell me the difference between Silicon Bronze and Phos Bronze as it related to jewelry making?
Colour.
Phosphor bronzes tend to be “pink”
Silicon bronze tend to be a “dirty yellow”
They both can obtain a nice crusty green patina (which I find
attractive).
Phosphor bronze contains tin, whereas Silicon bronze contains no
tin, and uses zinc (which makes it a brass imo).
Neither of these alloys look the same as a copper tin bronze.
They all work fine, although I don’t like zinc at all (zinc is in a
lot of things we work with).
