hey i was firing a mokume billet and managed to get a bit of borax
stuck in part of one of the kiln elements anyone have any suggestions
for removing it other then replacing the entire element. i caught it
before it vitrified and scraped most of it off but theres still some
left in the coil. how much of a problem will this pose to
me.

Damn that’s going to shorten the life of the element.
It’s going to melt every time the element gets hot enough.
Get a spare element.

Just wondering…have you done an enamel test firing since this
happened? I don’t know how borax fumes in the kiln could affect
enamel. If you don’t know either, do a test firing before you fire
something precious to you! Maybe it’s a great new process…a little
borax and some wonderful new fumed surface?
