Any insights as to the origins, rarity, value, legality, mode of
working, etc etc of black coral will be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Try to get a copy of the August 2000 Lapidary Journal magazine.
It has two very good articles about black coral written by Donald C.
Dietz. Topics include finding it, working with it, legal issues,
etc. I was surprised when I read the article, because there is a
very good chance I have tripped over the stuff many times - I’ve
lived in Florida almost 35 years. It apparently just washes ashore
after storms.
