I have heard that abalone dust should not be breathed. Was a face
mask used or is what I heard an old wives tale?
NOT an old wifes tale nor even an an old widows tale.
Dust will kill ya, some faster than others but dead is dead. Metals
aren’t too bad (large particle size), polishing has really fine size
particles and often silica (bad). Any organics cut / polished can be
much worse because in addition to the partical size problem as there
is an additional toxicity problem.
No reason to get paranoid about most jewellery processes.(even some
of the most nasty ones) But do learn about what you want to do,
safety procedures, and have a full understanding of the process.
