Hi, Everyone, As I don’t have equipment for casting as yet…Can
someone tell me where to buy at wholesale, cast Goddess figures
for making pendants, earrings, etc.? Thanks, Cat Dancing, in
Texas, where it’s finally cooled off…

Have you thought of steam casting. it is not too difficult.
need, wax, flask, sprue base, investment, burn out oven, cap. The
cap, is like a lid to a jar. say you have a 2" dia. flask. Have
machinist cut it like jar lid. l____ ____l the sides should
be about 1/2" long. the inside dia. should be about 21/8". a hole
in the center to put a wood handle.hence the cap.

Mount wax sprue on a ball about 3/8" dia. then on button. The
button should be a dome not a cone. the dome should be about 1
3/4" dia.X 1" . Invest and burn out. I like to go 600f hr, 1000f
hr, 1350f 2 hr 950f 2 hr.

To cast: Pull flask with button up, put metal in dome, melt, (
The cap needs to have some kind of liner in it like asbestos
paper.( Try to use some thing other than asbestos. Years a go we
did, not good.)Thoroughly wet paper.) When the metal is at flow
temp put cap on and hold down. The steam will push the metal in.
It works.

True
The fall hunt is upon us.

Hi, I’m probably going to be sorry I got in to this but you can
use a potato instead of the cap and wet paper. It works fine and
you cannot, after all, eat a cap and wet paper. Have fun. Tom

Hi, An old standby in the dental lab industry from years ago
(before my time) is potato casting! You can proceed as Mr.
Threlkeld stated. Use a potato of sufficient diameter to cover
the casting ring with roomto spare around the edge. Cut it in
half and use the cut surface as your steam source.
