Back from Metalwerx

I have just sat down to try to catch up on about 150 Orchid posts,
but before I do, I just want to say what a great time I had at
Metalwerx this weekend. It has a great atmosphere, and the wax
build-up technique taught by Michael Sturlin is very cool-- I have
mostly constructed a ring setting for a natural aquamarine crystal
that I’d been scratching my head over for quite a while. This feels
like the perfect way to do the design for this odd-shaped stone,
because I just started with the stone and built the wax around it.

I was sorry to spend such a short time, and not really explore
Boston, but I expect I’ll be back. My last evening, I thought I might
get scrod, but they said, “Not tonight dear, we have a haddock…”
;>}

Anyway, I’ll be writing a review for Art Jewelry, so you can look for
that in the fall!

Noel

Hello Noel,

Scrod means “select catch received on dock” or whatever white fish
is best for the day. So, haddock fits the bill!
