Azure graver-cuttings

Dear all

These four photographs were taken after I cut these Azure just to
show & explain how these cuts were actually created…with only 3
gravers!!
I use only an Onglette #1, (modified & polished to cut on
the Right side) & regular shaped Onglette #2 & a Flat #40. As this is
somewhat a precise process, a very steady hand is required…(no
coffee before these cuts.) During my training sessions, I will do a
‘demo’ & demonstrate how setters long ago used to cut these intricate
patterns. Imagine underneath each hole, a pattern like these had to
be created & designed, then be set.

Gerry- Very cool looking ajour. I so love the look of a ajoured back
on a piece and we do it on most of our bead settings. However there
is more than one way to skin a cat. We use a 3/0 saw blade to do
ours.

Have fun and make lots of jewelry.
