Agnieszka Maksymiuk Jewellery
Birmingham, UK

Agnieszka Maksymiuk is jewellery deigner / maker with Polish origins based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter (UK), trained first in Poland at the Academy of Fine Arts (MA, Design for Industry) then in United Kingdom (HND Jewellery & Silversmithing, Birmingham). Art and jewellery have always been a part of her life. She pursues to create jewellery, which exist as sculpture and become a piece of art. Instead of hanging on a wall it is wearable on a human body. Therefore she tries to apply art and show craftsmanship, so the pieces are hand carved and hand paintings are applied on the surface of metal. This collection is about a relation between city and nature. The impact of two different worlds: one exists outside - on the top and the second one inside – underneath. It’s all about our lives and how the human being balances on the edge between these two worlds. The project inspiration is the United Kingdom landscape as well. Agnieszka comes from Poland and to live in England is a new experience for her. She looks at the surrounding like she would be a traveller who discovers the place s for the first time.

Ring “Looking into London”

Materials: silver
Dimensions: 37 x 23 x 22 mm

Inspired by London’s architecture. Main landmarks, which can be easy recognizable for the viewer were hand carved in milliput. When you look inside a ring you can see a reflection of yourself, this is like you would be inside a city, surrounded by all the greatest monuments. The mirror reflection is like the River Thames which flows through the centre of London.
