I know I’ve used Tarnex and it worked well for heavy tarnish—black
tarnish removed instantaneously. However I found I had a dull grey
finish until I used a silver polish after the Tarnex. Not sure but I
think the polishes leave some kind of protection that is supposed
to retard the formation of tarnish. That is what they claim anyway.
