[Advert] Jewelry/Metals Marketing Book

Hello Orchidians: Based on the overwhelming growth of Metalwerx, and
my talk on marketing at Rio Grande’s Catalog in Motion, I have
decided to write the first definitive marketing book on marketing for
Metalsmiths and Jewelers. In the past year, I have had to put off
the etching book and want to concentrate on something that affects us
all in our jobs. Of the many books I have been reading on marketing
for Crafts and Craftshows, Guerilla Marketing, Marketing for Artists
and many more, these books seem to be a “one size fits all”. While
many areas do overlap, I want to specialize on what the needs and
obstacles

we face in the jewelry/metalsmithing business.

Although my strength is networking, my weakness is pricing.
Therefore, I welcome any suggestions for pricing. I will be
searching

the archives for some pricing setups and will have that in hand.
Rio Grande has offered major mentoring support which for me is
invaluable.

This forum has helped me enormously. Therefore, when this books is
published, a portion of the proceeds will go back to Orchid.

What I would like is your experiences in the following area. Please
email me offline.

1) Running a jewelry store
2) Life as a bench jeweler
3) Pricing your work
4) Making a transition to a new career in jewelry/metalsmithing.
5) Life from Academia

Thanks to all of you.
