My contribution (as humble as it is) is, be aware of your time because you only have 24 hours a day and ONE single life to live! Spend your time well but spend it wisely.
One could just as easily argue that providing a service for free to
someone looking to seek their passion is also spending their time
wisely. Perhaps it is one of the wisest ways one could spend their
time.
Though, personally, everyone who has ever asked me for lessons has
offered to pay.

I have found the same to be true. I have offered a free apprenticeship to numerous people and no takers. (They all want to be paid handsomely to learn!)
Paf, if I lived nearer to you, I’d give my right arm to be your
apprentice. I can’t afford to pay someone to teach me and while I’d
love to get paid to work, I’d happily exchange work for knowledge!
